DOUGLAS REEVE

Studio ceramics can be frustrating. Days spent throwing, turning, drying, decorating and firing can culminate in warped, cracked or smudged pots. One needs to be very philosophical about it.

My Philosophy PhD is from UCL.

I find this grounding helps - a little.

Early influences include the work of Lucie Rie, Hans Coper and

Shoji Hamada.

My interest is in the beauty of form, experimentation with line, curves, and colour.  I work in porcelain and prefer collections of related pieces.

I also collaborate with painter Beverley Rouwen to create works in paint and porcelain - Clayscapes.
